Job Title: Senior Engineer

Transgrid operates and maintains the high-voltage electricity network across NSW and the ACT, driving Australia's clean energy transformation.

Job Description:

This role involves leading technical modelling, analysis, and strategic recommendations to support the secure, reliable and efficient transition of the electricity transmission system for Transgrid and its customers.

You will be responsible for conducting advanced power system analysis to support operational resilience and strategic decision-making, identifying system risks and collaborating with stakeholders to implement mitigation strategies, preparing clear, concise reports and briefings for executives, boards, and non-technical audiences, representing Transgrid in industry forums and contributing to policy and reform initiatives, and mentoring engineers and fostering a high-performance, collaborative team culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading the development and implementation of medium-term transition plans
  • Conducting advanced power system analysis to support operational resilience and strategic decision-making
  • Identifying system risks and collaborating with stakeholders to implement mitigation strategies
  • Preparing clear, concise reports and briefings for executives, boards, and non-technical audiences
  • Representing Transgrid in industry forums and contributing to policy and reform initiatives
  • Mentoring engineers and fostering a high-performance, collaborative team culture
Requirements:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in power system modelling, planning, or operations
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electricity Market, National Electricity Rules, and energy reform initiatives
  • A proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
