Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our financial management services in the Resources department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and business models to inform effective decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Management Leadership: Lead the delivery of professional financial management services, including state budget and estimates process management, internal budget management, and business and costing models.
  2. Financial Analysis and Reporting: Provide robust, high-quality financial management analysis, reporting, and business models to inform effective decision-making processes within the organisation.
  3. Investment and Prioritisation Framework: Develop and implement a robust investment and prioritisation framework to support effective decision-making in a dynamic environment.
  4. Financial Policy and Advice: Provide input into the development of financial policy and financial impact assessment on proposed departmental reforms and initiatives.
  5. Strategic Financial Recommendations: Provide timely, independent, and informed advice and strategic financial recommendations to the Minister, Resources' Leadership Team, and departmental committees on a broad range of financial management and budgetary issues.
  6. Financial Management Improvement: Lead the delivery of the department's ongoing program of financial management improvement with a focus on enhanced business partnering and centres of expertise together with efficient and effective operations.
  7. Team Leadership: Lead and cultivate high-performing teams through effective leadership, empowerment of staff, supportive feedback on performance, and promotion of professional development.
  8. Customer-Centric Financial Services: Lead the delivery of customer-centric financial services by embedding a culture of understanding and delivering on customer expectations and actively contributing to positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Representation and Consultation: Represent the department in high-level forums, consultations, and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders and clients, including Queensland Treasury and other external parties.
  10. Strategic Advice and Implementation: Contribute to the achievement of the Finance and Corporate Operations vision through the provision of strategic advice, active participation in the senior management team, promoting a collegiate approach to activities across the division, and the successful implementation of divisional plans.

Requirements

Relevant accounting qualifications, such as a relevant degree and relevant professional membership, are highly desirable for this role.
