Network Operator Position

About the Role
  • You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of quality water and wastewater services to the community.
  • Installation, maintenance, and monitoring works on Council's water and wastewater network including water supply and wastewater drainage systems must be undertaken ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Data related to water and wastewater must be documented, monitored, and reviewed in electronic and hard copy format, reporting anomalies as required.
  • Cross-team collaboration through information and knowledge sharing is expected, along with providing support for maintenance and operations of treatment plants.
  • Establishing and maintaining customer and stakeholder relationships through effective communication is crucial to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Weekend and on-call rosters and emergency call-outs may require your availability.
  • Monitoring your work performance and progress towards delivering work plan goals is necessary, with regular reports to team leaders.
  • The efficient use of resources is vital to complete tasks that either contribute to or directly deliver services.
  • Contributing to the performance of Council is expected: professional conduct, best use of knowledge, experience, and skills, and accountability for decisions and actions are all essential.
  • A safe workplace is mandatory: compliance with legislative and organisational requirements and accountability for decisions and actions are both crucial.
About You
  • Demonstrated contemporary experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Ability to operate small plant and hand tools competently, including lawnmowers, whipper snippers, sludge pumps, powered cut-off saws, grinders, drill, and water snorter (pipeline pressure cleaner) is necessary.
  • Construction Induction White Card is required.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake confined spaces training courses, including refresher courses, are expected.
  • Physical fitness is necessary to complete all aspects of the position.
  • Experience in Treatment Plant Operations or ability and willingness to undertake training for both water and wastewater operations is required.
  • Availability to work weekend and on-call rosters and respond to emergency call-outs is essential.
  • Literacy and computer skills with the ability to complete paper and electronic forms and record data are necessary.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes that contribute to the achievement of the organisation's strategic goals is expected.
  • Current Class C drivers licence is required.
Desirable Criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of Radio Telemetry is desirable.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills are expected.
  • Experience in pipeline construction for the laying of water and wastewater mains or ability to learn is desirable.
  • Traffic Controller Certificate is desired.
  • Implement Traffic Control Plans Certificate is desirable.
  • Certificate of Competence in Excavator Operation is desired.
  • Certification in Water Treatment (Cert III) or Certificate in Water Industry Operations is desirable.
  • Drivers Licence MR (Medium Rigid) is desirable.
