Job Description

This pivotal role involves leading the development implementation and enhancement of sustainability assurance methodology in alignment with Australian Standards on Sustainability Assurance Engagements ASSA.

You will shape the future of assurance in a rapidly evolving field while supporting practitioners across the audit practice with your expertise.

The successful candidate will possess excellent technical accounting knowledge and skills including applied knowledge of Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards as well as experience in performing and/or reviewing sustainability assurance engagements.

  • Develop implement and maintain sustainability assurance methodology in line with ASSA 5000 and other emerging standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and respond to complex queries on sustainability assurance engagements from client-facing teams.
  • Collaborate with audit and assurance teams to ensure effective application of assurance methodology in sustainability-related engagements.
  • Lead mentor and develop a high-performing team of sustainability assurance specialists within AAQ.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory and standard-setting environment both domestic and international ensuring timely integration into methodology and practice.
  • Support technical learning including designing and delivering relevant learning programs.
  • Engage in thought leadership projects contributing to BDO's responses to regulatory consultations on sustainability assurance matters.
  • Participate in or lead special assignments cross-functional initiatives and other technical projects as required.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Accounting Economics or Business majoring in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • CA Qualified or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to translate complex technical matters for diverse audiences.
