Job Summary

The Planning Institute Australia is seeking an experienced Strategic Planning Officer to join our team in Cairns. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to regional development through statutory and strategic land use planning services.

About the Role

As a team member of our Planning and Development Services division, you will have the opportunity to contribute technical expertise and planning and development best practices to the regions we service. You will work closely with local governments to implement the State's Assessment Referral Agency (SARA) and assess development applications on behalf of the State.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to regional development through statutory and strategic land use planning services.
  2. Work closely with local governments to implement the State's Assessment Referral Agency (SARA).
  3. Assess development applications on behalf of the State.
  4. Provide technical expertise and planning and development best practices to the regions we service.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of planning and development principles and practices. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
