The role of a Clinical Health Specialist is to play a vital part in delivering primary healthcare services to remand and sentenced prisoners at Alice Springs Correctional Centre (ASCC). This position involves treating illness, promoting wellbeing, and maintaining health systems to improve health outcomes.
This role requires working within a multidisciplinary framework operating 7 days a week, offering shift work opportunities. As a Clinical Health Specialist, you will report to the District Manager of Prison Health, providing sound clinical and professional care that positively impacts work processes, services, and clients within the specialty area.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Primary Health Care
- A graduate certificate in a relevant specialty area
- Well-developed knowledge, skills, and experience in nursing, with an ability to act as a clinical resource for other staff
- Ability to mentor and support junior staff and contribute to clinical education and quality improvement initiatives
- Ability to meet the Northern Territory Correctional Services security clearance requirements
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership and direction to healthcare teams
- Developing and implementing patient-centered care plans
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve health outcomes
- Mentoring and supporting junior staff to develop their clinical skills
