Job Opportunity

A challenging and dynamic role is available for a Senior Associate with expertise in privacy and Freedom of Information matters to join our Dispute Resolution team.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement data protection strategies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, fostering a culture of accountability and risk management.
  • Create privacy-compliant schemes for digital products and IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and minimizing potential vulnerabilities.
  • Prepare comprehensive Privacy Impact Assessments and advise on privacy policies and guidelines to protect client data and maintain confidentiality.
  • Advise on Freedom of Information matters and prepare submissions to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Represent clients in merits and judicial review proceedings, leveraging expertise in public sector law and demonstrating exceptional advocacy skills.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years and maximum of 8 years post-admission experience working in or for the public sector on Commonwealth government matters, with a strong track record of delivering results.
  • Significant expertise in privacy and FOI matters, with a proven ability to analyze complex information and provide informed guidance.
  • A strong interest in growing the Commonwealth government practice, excellent drafting and analytical skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team, manage multiple matters and competing timelines, and make informed decisions under pressure.
