Spiritual Care Professional

The Spiritual Care team delivers a range of spiritual care interventions across the lifespan for inpatients, their families and carers as well as staff.

This role involves providing relief supports to patients, families and staff, recognising that each person has their own spirituality which may or may not be expressed in formal religious beliefs or practices.

  • Offering spiritual, religious and pastoral supports to patients, families and staff
  • Practicing within a multi-faith and culturally diverse setting
  • Providing administrative support as advised by onsite coordinators
  • Supporting visiting chaplains and care volunteers

About the Role

To succeed, you will have developed skills in providing spiritual care supports, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a good understanding of psycho-social, cultural, religious and spiritual aspects of illness and hospitalization.

You will also have experience working autonomously and as a team member with attention to self-care practices in coping with emotionally demanding situations.

Key Requirements

  • Membership of Spiritual Care Australia at 'Certified Level'
  • Evidence of continuing professional education and commitment to ongoing supervision
  • Proven experience in spiritual care support in acute settings
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working closely with multidisciplinary teams
