Expert Dementia Consultant Opportunity in Aged Care

A rewarding opportunity for a passionate dementia professional to join HammondCare's Dementia Support Australia team on a fixed-term full-time contract until June 2026 at our Daw Park site.
This role will ensure the delivery of Dementia Support Australia through assessments, case management, support, mentoring, and modeling to reduce the impact of behaviors on people living with dementia, their carers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide dementia-specific expert consulting and advisory services within and outside of HammondCare.
- Develop the skills, expertise, and/or applied knowledge of aged care staff and carers to understand the person living with dementia.
- Develop best practice support and care with the ability to develop and implement client-specific advice, recommendations, and respond to changes in behavior.
- Assess clients with behaviors related to dementia and provide resources and ideas for effective care provision and support for that person's needs.
- Access current evidence-based guidance and knowledge and ensure it is aligned with the Dementia Centre.
- Plan engagement with individuals and teams to achieve agreed practice development objectives and quality improvements.
- Work on other projects and assignments as required and in line with areas of skill, expertise, and knowledge.
- Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
- Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
- High level of negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management.
- A current Australian driver's license and willingness to travel.
- Empathy and patience.
- Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health is essential.
- Market leading remuneration ($120,000 - $150,000 per annum).
