About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Precision Loitering Munition Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Army UAS Acquisition Project Office, you will be responsible for performing and achieving complex systems and software engineering work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and develop PLM engineering concepts, including control systems and software, to ensure compliance with legislative frameworks and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
  • Deliver and manage PLM specifications and resources in support of the Defence materiel capability lifecycle, ensuring that delivered materiel meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Support Introduction into Service activities for PLM, including compliance finding and technical certification, to ensure that systems and software engineering activities meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues, with specific focus on software management and PLM control systems, to ensure that Defence's UAS capability requirements are met.
  • Work with broad supervision to identify issues and solve problems, tailoring communication style and language to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Defence stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Monitor and ensure safety aspects of Precision Loitering Munition systems are considered and incorporated into systems and software engineering activities, to ensure that Defence's UAS capability requirements are met.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, and actively participate in team work, to ensure that Defence's UAS capability requirements are met.
  • Manage workflows, resources, work area plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes, to ensure that Defence's UAS capability requirements are met.
About Our Team

The Cargo Helicopter and Uncrewed Surveillance Program Office (CHUSPO) delivers through-life support for the CH-47F Chinook and Army Aviation System Branch supported fleet of Uncrewed Aerial Systems. The Program Office is made up of the Cargo Helicopter Management Unit (CHMU), the Uncrewed Aerial Systems Management Unit (UASMU), the Engineering Management Unit (EMU), the Army Uncrewed Aerial Systems Program Office (AUASPO) and the Business Management Unit (BMU).

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Precision Loitering Munition Engineer who can demonstrate the following skills and qualities:

  • Initiative and willingness to learn, with a strong understanding of systems and software engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to perform critical and complex engineering activities and provide advice in the field of systems and software engineering, including critical control systems, under broad direction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and take these into account in planning, decision making and priority setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Defence stakeholders and industry partners.
