Job Description

The HVAC Engineer I will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems in a fast-paced casino environment.

  • Adjusts, repairs, troubleshoots and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Performs all preventive maintenance on systems and maintains applicable log books.
  • Conducts walk-through inspections; changes belts, filters, adjusts volume dampers, checks gauges, coils, drain lines, bleeds gas lines, resets compressors, check unit sensors, relocates ductwork and troubleshoots to locate sources and cause of malfunction.
  • Assists with estimating parts, supplies, equipment and labor hours needed to complete assigned repairs and monitors computer for malfunctions.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining quality of air, air flow and temperature at on and off-site facilities; adjusts valves to regulate temperature of lubrication oil and flow of water through system.
  • Records gauge readings, repairs completed and time lost due to inoperative equipment.
  • Maintains technical logs and records all relevant data as appropriate.
Required Skills and Qualifications

High School diploma or technical certificate required as well as a minimum of three (3) years' experience with commercial industrial equipment or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Must also have a Florida state EPA HVAC License and possess basic mechanical aptitude.

Work Environment: The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
