Violence Abuse and Neglect Health Clinician

This position is an exciting opportunity to work within a tri-agency partnership, providing integrated crisis responses and ongoing counselling to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse, neglect and support for their family members.

The Violence Abuse and Neglect Health Clinician will work in close collaboration with local clinicians to promote safe and high-quality client-centered care within the Prevention and Response Violence and Neglect (PARVAN) framework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating access to Local Health Districts/ Speciality Networks information in relation to JCPRP referrals and participating in JCPRP Local Planning and Response meeting.
  • Providing consultative services in areas of clinical expertise to promote consistent provision of safe and high-quality client-centered care.
  • Delivering clinical in-service education programs, including mandatory child protection training, to staff and students.
  • Supporting domestic violence reforms across the FWLHD and representing the FWLHD at Safety Action Meetings.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor Social Work qualification with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or NSW Health Professionals Award Psychologist with general registration with AHPRA or Bachelor degree in Social Science, Social Welfare.
  • Extensive specialist knowledge of contemporary trauma-informed practice and rural/remote service provision.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to document accurately, write proficiently, consult effectively and negotiate collaboratively.
  • Competency in using information and communication technology for email, internet searches, analysis of clinical data, presentations and clinical documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working within principles and impacts of violence, abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to collaborate and work sensitively with diverse clients, including remote communities and Aboriginal people.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence and ability to travel as part of the role.
