What You'll Be Doing
  • The OOHC Health & Child Wellbeing Coordinator plays a key role in improving health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people in Out-of-Home Care and those at risk of harm.
  • The position supports the implementation of the OOHC Health Pathway and child protection responsibilities across the Far West Local Health District by providing leadership, coordination, consultation, and education to health staff and community partners.
  • The role ensures culturally safe, trauma-informed, and integrated responses that promote child safety, wellbeing, and system accountability.

How To Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible
  • Must hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, Allied Health or Nursing, with postgraduate experience working with Children/Young People within a trauma-informed framework and implementing the principles of culturally competent healthcare.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection legislation, policies, and practice including the Wood Inquiry reforms, and experience supporting vulnerable families through complex health and psychosocial needs.
  • Knowledge of the needs of children and young people in Out-of-Home Care and the roles and responsibilities of government and non-government stakeholders supporting them.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement administrative systems to monitor performance, allocate and manage cases, and coordinate service responses effectively within tight timeframes and with limited resources.
  • High-level clinical judgement and decision-making skills, with demonstrated ability to provide consultation, advice, and education to staff regarding child protection and wellbeing matters.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage and influence multidisciplinary and interagency partners to deliver integrated, child-focused, and trauma-informed responses.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate open discussions, negotiate conflict, and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse workload independently, exercise initiative, adapt to evolving priorities, and meet service demands. Current NSW driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
