Job Title: Cyber Security Expert - Energy Sector

About the Role:

The Senior Cyber Analyst will support the development and execution of a program of work to enable effective coordination with government authorities and energy market participants on cyber security incidents.

  • Delivery and ownership of complex outcomes in support of the Energy Markets Cyber Coordination team's responsibilities relating to cyber maturity uplift.
  • Maintain contacts and engage with stakeholders across government, industry, and academia.
  • Identify and review AEMO cyber security standards applying to market participants.
  • Support review and refinement of sector-specific cyber maturity frameworks and reporting on security preparedness of the sector.
  • Assisting in the development of supporting materials and presentations.
  • Coordinate internal and contracted resources to deliver objectives.

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Expert who has proven experience in the energy sector supporting critical infrastructure, resilience and cyber security initiatives. The ideal candidate will have effective analysis and communication skills, knowledge of security control and maturity frameworks relevant to the energy sector, jurisdictional structures and arrangements across State, Territory and Commonwealth governments with respect to energy and cyber security, contemporary knowledge of cyber adversary techniques and tradecraft, procurement, program and project management skills, financial/budget management, scheduling and resource management skills, ability to travel interstate and work flexible hours.

Australian citizenship is required, as well as the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance. Tertiary qualifications in computer science, technology-related fields, energy-related fields or equivalent experience are also necessary. Cyber security, energy, or project management qualifications or certifications would be advantageous.

Key Requirements:

This role requires a high level of autonomy, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.

In addition, you should have:

  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles and best practices.
  • Experience working with security control frameworks and risk management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
