Learning Support Assistant

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about providing support and care to students with diverse learning needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with identified diverse learning needs in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher.
  • Provide assistance with student welfare, health, and wellbeing activities as required.
  • Work with students in various streams or settings, including pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual programs.
Requirements
  • Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education.
  • Willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the School Learning Support Officer role.
  • Ability to administer medications – training to be provided based on student needs.
  • Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions).
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with students with emotional, physical, or intellectual disabilities.
  • Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical, or intellectual disabilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
