Director Force Health Protection

About the Role

The Director Force Health Protection will play a critical role in shaping the health protection strategies and health surveillance capabilities of the Defence organization. This position requires a high degree of independence and leadership, with a focus on influencing and developing policies, priorities, and operational practices to support Defence objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and technical health advice to senior management and stakeholders
  • Lead and assume accountability for public health initiatives, emergency preparedness, and response planning
  • Develop, coach, and review individual, team, and business performance
  • Identify opportunities for building team capability and continuous improvement
  • Set work aligned with strategic objectives and communicate expected outcomes
  • Initiate, establish, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders internally and externally
  • Recognize shared agendas and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes

About Our Team

The Force Health Protection Directorate sits within the Health Protection and Policy Branch, Joint Health Command. This directorate will provide population health advice, including public health, epidemiology, and environmental health advice to optimize the health and health readiness of ADF members.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who can lead an integrated and multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a sound understanding of health in the military context, and the ability to frame strategies and outputs appropriate to each context. They will also demonstrate a sound understanding of compliance with relevant health legislative frameworks, government direction, policy requirements, and the ADF's mission.
