About the Role

The City of Concord's Police Department is seeking a highly motivated and customer-service oriented individual to serve as a Community Service Officer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing various routine law enforcement-related tasks that do not require the authority of a sworn police officer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer multiple telephone lines and respond to a wide variety of questions from the public in person and over the phone.
  • Receive, classify, and record various complaints from the public.
  • Monitor departmental security by television cameras.
  • Release towed or stored vehicles according to guidelines.
  • Provide support with information retention as it relates to contacts and police reports received at the various community policing field offices.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of modern office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions according to existing laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of related work experience, including public contact and preferably including experience in a law enforcement or related agency.
  • A California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
  • Completion of the twelfth grade or the equivalent.
