About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned investment professional to lead our Australian office and drive the Australian investment agenda for our clean energy business. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for originating and executing renewable energy transactions in Australia, as well as leading a small local investment and asset management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct market and competition analysis to establish a strategy for the deployment of capital in renewable energy investments in solar, wind, and storage in Australia.
  • Manage the origination and execution of Australian clean energy investments, including acquisitions, mergers, project finance, and divestitures, leading a small internal team and external advisors.
  • Oversee the production of financial models for renewable energy generation projects and assets.
  • Supervise the preparation and defense of investment proposals in the Investment Committee.
  • Network and manage relationships with Australian co-investors, including investments in minority stakes alongside local investors to 100% owned deals.
  • Manage working relationships with external advisors, including developers, lawyers, technical advisors, debt providers, EPC contractors, etc.
  • Attract third-party debt funding and lead negotiations of key economic aspects of investments with counterparties.
  • Oversee the operations of development platforms acquired or established by our company.
  • Ensure the efficient delivery of projects in development and construction using past experience in EPC, bank documentation preparation, and legal documentation.
  • Act as a Board Member or Director of investee companies, monitoring and reviewing investments in the portfolio in Australia.
  • Manage the administrative tasks of the Australian office, including premises, hiring, etc.
Requirements
  • Experience across the entire investment process: origination, execution, and asset management.
  • Prior renewable energy transaction implementation, gained at a bank, private equity fund, renewable energy developer, or utility.
  • Significant relevant working experience in Australia.
  • Strong project finance background in power energy from origination to closing.
  • Experience in evaluating renewable energy development projects and platforms, including exposure to Joint Development Agreements with developers.
  • Corporate finance transaction experience (from origination to execution) in the energy sector, preferably in renewables.
  • Relevant experience in the power industry required.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector, with a strong knowledge of the Australian renewable energy market and players, to understand implications of market trends and draw conclusions for appropriate actions.
  • Experience in leading and directing small teams of investment professionals and asset managers.
  • Sound and solid financial toolkit, including building models, analyzing financial statements, performing valuations, development or construction, and structuring deals.
  • A strategic approach, sound business judgment, and a strong analytical and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Team player with the ability to develop trusting and open relationships with other employees.
  • The role will require regular travel within Australia and periodic regional/international travel.
Education Requirements
  • A strong academic background is required.
  • Preferably, a well-recognized professional designation in finance, investments, or engineering.
