Job Description:
The Senior Commercial Manager will play a crucial role in the management and oversight of commercial aspects across the Sydney Metro West project. This position demands a strong understanding of contract law, financial management, and risk assessment within the civil engineering sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing project forecast, monitoring expenditures, and implementing cost control measures to ensure financial targets are met.
- Management of contractor disputes, working closely with the finance team to prepare month end whole of project forecasts and financial reports.
- Mentor the Commercial Team on industry best practice and encourage staff to develop their current skillset.
- Evaluation of variation claims prepared by the commercial team prior to issuing assessments for review and approval under the delegation of authority.
- Managing compliance and preparing reports on commercial performance of the project.
- Working knowledge of common law, state and federal regulations, and statue as it relates to commercial issues.
- Provide strategic guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and legally sound environment.
- Lead on monitoring and steering outcomes for high-risk/value claims and disputes, ensuring positive strategies and resolutions.
About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to work on a major infrastructure project, driving commercial success and shaping the future of Sydney's transportation network. As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for maximising project profitability, managing contractual relationships, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
About You:
We are seeking an experienced professional with a degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Business-related degree. A minimum of 10 years' commercial/contract management experience in major large-scale infrastructure projects is essential. Strong understanding of principles of contract management, experience of contract management, and stakeholder engagement with practical experience are required.
You should have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to manage competing deadlines. A strong understanding of estimating, quantity survey, procurement, and contracts management is also essential. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders is crucial for this role.
About the Project:
The Sydney Metro West project involves the delivery of 9 kilometres of twin metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park, excavation of new station boxes at Westmead and Parramatta, earthworks, utilities, and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde, a precast concrete segment factory at Eastern Creek, and a services facility, crossover structure, and excavation to support tunnelling operations at Rosehill.
We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of AU$180,000 - AU$220,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus superannuation and other benefits.
