Job Title: Trainee Track Protection Officer

A 18-month fixed term full-time role, with the option to progress to a permanent position.

  • No prior experience is necessary, and training will be provided for a nationally recognized certificate.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking safety-focused, flexible, and enthusiastic individuals to join our worksite protection team as trainee track protection officers. The primary responsibility will be ensuring the safety of workers on track while working with various customers across the network.

The team excels in managing multiple workgroups with rail traffic at different sites. With over 25 shutdown closures throughout the year, covering all systems with some lasting up to five days, teamwork is key in executing Safety Critical Communication & Network Lockout with Network Control, Responsible Workers, and other Protection Officers.

Key Responsibilities
  • To manage allocated worksites proactively and autonomously to ensure safe working incidents do not occur.
  • Support current Protection Officers in day-to-day operations, including safety protocols and communication with the control room.
  • Travel extensively, potentially away from home for up to ten days at a time.
Requirements

Fantastic attitude and a strong commitment to safety

Ability to work away extensively on a roster that is subject to change

Flexibility with rosters - able to adapt to varying schedules

C-Class QLD Manual drivers' licence or minimum P2 preferred
