Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team in the Speech Pathology Department at Northern Beaches Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality speech pathology assessment and intervention services to patients in an acute environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing professional, evidence-based speech pathology assessment and intervention services to patients with swallowing and communication disorders.
  • Developing positive working relationships with Medical Officers, Nursing Staff, Allied Health Professionals, and other staff members.
  • Participating in and providing educational support to patients and their significant others, supervision, quality improvement, and professional development.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Extensive clinical knowledge and experience in assessment and treatment of adults with swallowing and communication disorders in the acute setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with independent professional judgment and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workload demands, meet deadlines, and complete activities within scope of practice.
  • Experience in development, leadership, and implementation of quality improvement projects.
  • Previous supervision and/or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills across all levels.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
