Freelance Garment Technician Role

A skilled Freelance Garment Technician is required to collaborate with designers in the interpretation of sketches and specification sheets, providing technical advice on garment construction and fabric consumption.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of samples prior to fitting sessions, ensuring accuracy and reviewing workmanship.
  • Leading fit sessions, offering technical guidance and problem-solving support to designers.
  • Processing fit comments and providing technical instructions to suppliers, accompanied by photographs, diagrams, and videos as needed.
  • Daily liaison with suppliers to optimize production methods and workshop best practices for bulk orders.
  • Maintenance of Aje standard measurements and consistency of workmanship and construction techniques across all suppliers.
  • Development and maintenance of grading rules and tolerances for each garment type.
  • Conducting in-store quality spot checks and communicating findings to the Garment Technician Manager.
  • Identification of styles requiring third-party inspections and organization of sealer packs.
  • Reporting on seasonal production issues, detailing factory performance against target expectations.
  • Flagging potential delivery impacting issues with the Production Manager at pre-production stage.
  • Assessment of returns and resolution of recurring issues.
  • Participation in weekly team meetings to provide updates on workflow and critical path expectations.
  • Contribution to the development of AJE internal manual and supplier manual.
  • Organization of pre-production and reference sample storage.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in garment technology or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and fabric consumption.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interpret sketches and specification sheets.
  • Technical knowledge of garment construction techniques.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in utilizing tools such as diagrams, photographs, and videos.
