Your role in POSSE

As the Assistant Garment Technologist at POSSE, you will play a vital support role to the garment technician in the product development lifestyle to ensure the technical precision of each garment aligns with the quality requirements approved from the design and production team.

Working under the guidance of the Garment Technologist, you will assist in fittings, update technical documentation, track and communicate sample status with the development team.

This role is based at our Sydney Head Office on the Northern Beaches, reporting directly to the Garment Technologist as well as working collaboratively with the Design team. This is a full-time position.

Outline of duties

Below is an overview of day-to-day duties and department ownership. From time to time, you will be required to take on responsibilities that are not listed below, as one-off projects or unusual circumstances arise.

  • Measure all incoming development and production samples prior to all fit sessions to ensure they meet specification standards
  • Assist in preparing and updating tech packs, size specifications, and technical construction details.
  • Conduct initial quality control checks on all incoming development and production samples and reporting to the garment technician
  • Attend weekly garment fittings, take accurate notes, and update technical files based on requests.
  • Provide technical guidance to the development and production teams to ensure garment finishes are viable and cost-efficient bulk.
  • Assist in updating the critical path to track approvals and delays of all samples across design & development.
  • Ensure all garments label specifications are clear and appropriate for each design
  • Assist in vendor communication, ensuring timely follow-up on fit resubmissions, approvals, and quality queries.
  • Support the garment technician in assessing all shipping samples
  • Ad hoc tasks as required.
Indicative requirements
  • 2–3 years' experience in a garment tech, product development, or quality control role in fashion (ladieswear preferred).
  • Foundational knowledge of garment construction, both woven and knitted fabrics, and finishing techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator (for tech pack updates and spec sheets).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to critically problem solve
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A team player with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and follow through with the completion of tasks ensuring deadlines are met and critical path is maintained
