We are currently seeking a Principal Security Advisor to enhance our Cyber Security and Risk team. This pivotal role will involve offering technical guidance and strategic advice to ensure our technological frameworks comply with established cyber security principles, policies, and standards. You will play a crucial role in aligning our security strategies and roadmaps with our overarching business goals.

In this capacity, you will leverage your industry expertise to drive continuous improvement and capability development within the Cyber Security domain and beyond. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that our security policies and standards are effective and that our technology adheres to security architecture governance and enterprise architecture principles.

This position presents an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your Security Advisory expertise, collaborate with high-performing teams, and build relationships within the Cyber Security and Risk domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert Security Consulting and advisory services to both technology and business stakeholders.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Security Domain strategies and roadmaps.
  • Develop high-level solution architectures for the Cyber Security Program of Work.
  • Engage in Cyber Security architectural governance processes.
  • Collaborate with the broader technology community to ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and controls.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Security Frameworks, Policies, Standards, and Guidelines.
  • Facilitate the adoption of new security technologies and innovations that support business objectives securely.
  • Partner with Project and Delivery Managers to design and implement new Security Capabilities.
  • Identify necessary improvements and significant changes to existing security platforms.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Over 5 years of security experience in large organizations, ideally within financial services, focusing on advisory, architecture, or consulting roles.
  • A degree in Business, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Information Security concepts, including risk management, controls testing, security architecture, threat management, security governance, and secure development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Data Security controls, such as Data Loss Prevention, and security in workplace technologies, including virtualized desktop/application access, endpoint protection, mobile application management, Information Protection, and cloud-based productivity technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office365, Azure AD).
  • Familiarity with industry Security frameworks like NIST, ISO27001, Mitre, OWASP, and Essential 8, as well as experience with Data Centre security technologies (e.g., Firewalls, Proxies, WAF, Secure Web Gateways, CASBs, Key Management, IPS/IDS), including Micro Segmentation technologies and implementations.
  • Cloud security architecture experience across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, with an understanding of Australian regulatory and legislative compliance (e.g., APRA, Privacy Act, PCI).
  • Strong analytical, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, build and maintain strong relationships, negotiate outcomes, and influence effectively.
