Overview:

The Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction is a pivotal leadership role focused on embedding essential literacy and numeracy skills within the educational framework. This position is dedicated to enhancing teaching methodologies and empowering middle leaders to excel in literacy and numeracy instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of evidence-based literacy and numeracy practices to elevate teaching, learning, and assessment across various subjects.
  • Provide tailored, impactful professional development opportunities to foster continuous growth in teacher proficiency in literacy and numeracy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design, execute, and assess the effectiveness of innovative teaching strategies aimed at improving student outcomes in literacy and numeracy.
  • Utilize strategic skills to enhance the capabilities of educators and leaders, ensuring alignment with school-wide literacy and numeracy objectives.

Selection Criteria:

In addition to general selection criteria, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Proven teaching experience with a track record of initiating improvements in educational practices.
  • Expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and student welfare, with the ability to lead inclusive teaching programs.
  • Leadership skills to cultivate individual and team performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to build relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Effective resource management skills to support educational initiatives.
  • A commitment to the Department's policies on Aboriginal education.

Conditions:

An unconditional full approval to teach is mandatory. Candidates without this approval must apply concurrently with their application for the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction role.

This is a permanent part-time position, requiring a commitment of one day per week (0.2 FTE).
