Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to support financial reporting and analysis for stakeholders including external regulators, internal business unit management, and external audit relationships through effective balance sheet management, financial control, and governance activities across various businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely compliance with all financial and taxation regulatory requirements for Group and Subsidiary entities, including GST, FBT, Company tax, ABS, etc.
  • Prepare and review MMS financial statements disclosures and preparation in accordance with accounting standards and best practices.
  • Manage month-end close accounting procedures, completion, and review of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including proactive follow-up on aged balances and/or reconciling variances.
  • Lead deep-dive reviews of accounting processes and use of accounting information systems within business operating segments to produce accurate and efficient financial results.
  • Provide relevant analysis and commentary regarding statutory results to support other financial reporting requirements and internal performance management.
  • Document relevant accounting policies and/or accounting treatments for the Group and its subsidiaries, ensuring consistent application.
  • Offer technical accounting advice to business unit management and senior leaders to ensure impacts of business transactions are clear and properly processed.
  • Assist the Group Taxation Manager with the preparation of the Group's tax lodgments and compliance program as required.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting and accounting, preferably in a corporate or professional services environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS, and relevant legislation applicable to MMS businesses.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and operational processes, as well as accounting systems and applications.
  • Experience with general ledger applications, including JD Edwards (desired).
  • Commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with business managers and senior leaders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to review work to ensure completeness and accuracy of analysis, outputs, and information provided to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Leadership and coaching/mentoring of financial accounting team members.
  • Relevant accounting qualification and membership of professional Accounting bodies for chartered accountants.
