Job Overview:

The role of a Cover Support Specialist is to ensure seamless learning continuity by supervising pre-set lessons and maintaining a safe, supportive environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons and instructions in the absence of the class teacher, promoting student engagement and academic progress.
  • Effective classroom management, including behavior support and conflict resolution, to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Ensuring students follow set work and remain focused throughout the session, with regular monitoring and feedback.
  • Acting as a point of contact for any issues that arise during lessons, escalating concerns to senior staff when necessary.
  • Providing regular reports to senior staff on student progress and classroom conduct, informing future lesson planning and interventions.
  • Promoting inclusion and upholding school safeguarding policies, ensuring the well-being of all students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an educational setting, preferably in a cover supervisor or similar role.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to lead confidently and make informed decisions.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young learners, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands.
