About the Role

The Communications & Engagement Coordinator is a key position within the Australian Creative Histories & Futures project, responsible for implementing engagement and communication strategies to promote the project's purpose and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-design a communications plan for the ACHF project with the ACHF Research Leads and Project Manager, utilizing the ARDC communication toolkit.
  • Lead the delivery of the ACHF project communications plan, including sector engagement, to achieve the ACHF project engagement KPIs.
  • Co-design marketing and communications activities targeting prioritized stakeholders in support of the ACHF project, engagement planning, and ACHF KPIs.
  • Co-design and lead the delivery of ACHF public events and meetings, including space management, participant registration, and catering.
  • Work with the Project Manager to prepare all ACHF external reports and publications in line with government, funding agency, and other stakeholder requirements.
  • Develop content creation for both internal and external audiences in collaboration with the Division of External Engagement and/or third-party agencies & suppliers.
  • Manage a broad range of marketing, communication, and engagement activities to raise the public profile of ACHF, showcase its benefits, and help build its reputation and brand identity.
  • Collaborate with the central UNSW communications teams and the ARDC communications and marketing team to develop and pitch media releases and stories that promote ACHF through all forms of media; monitor media mentions of ACHF, its programs, and related topics.
  • Collaborate with the UNSW communications team and the ARDC communications and marketing team to develop and manage digital channels (web, eDM, social) to grow reach, engagement, and impact while ensuring delivery is consistent with policy and brand guidelines of both universities.
  • Work with the Research Leads to review data to assess the efficacy of marketing initiatives, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide reporting at agreed timeframes.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent experience, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience in a similar role, or in research communication.
  • Proven track record of delivering and measuring strategic and creative engagement, marketing, and communications initiatives that align with overall strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a variety of events and a sound understanding of the steps involved in working with event owners, presenters, stakeholders, and audiences.
  • Proven experience in website content creation and management.
  • Demonstrated writing skills, with strong attention to detail and talent for creating audience-specific content in a range of formats and distilling complex information into clear messages.
  • Previous experience engaging with academic stakeholders, exposure to academic research projects, and/or experience within the creative arts domain would be highly advantageous.
  • Previous experience developing and implementing communications and engagement plans with Indigenous communities would be advantageous.
  • Proven ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of communication platforms, including traditional, digital, and social media channels. Knowledge of CRM platforms considered an advantage.
  • Proven collaborative and team-oriented approach, as well as the ability to work independently and autonomously.
