Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader to spearhead our search and recommendation features. As a key member of our team, you will drive innovation and excellence in product development.

  • Oversee the strategic direction and execution of engineering projects to enhance search and discovery capabilities.
  • Design and implement scalable architecture for low-latency systems that power our discovery features.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to represent Discovery Understanding Engineering and drive business outcomes.
  • Translate product goals into actionable solutions, run experiments, and refine features based on data-driven insights.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers to ensure high standards in software development and experimentation practices.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot search performance issues to ensure reliable and performant services.

Requirements

  • Deep experience building and scaling backend systems with a focus on search and recommendations, or similar domains requiring experiment-driven iteration.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements to discovery systems.
  • Proficient in Java at a staff level, with a strong foundation in data structures and system design.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized services (e.g., AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Curiosity, excellent communication skills, and a passion for empowering users through world-class product experiences.
