Job Description

The Protection and Control Engineer is responsible for optimising secondary asset performance through analysis, development, and implementation of cost-effective asset management plans.

This role covers United Energy, CitiPower, Powercor, Australian Energy Operations, and Powercor Transmission assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain engineering policies, standards, technical specifications, processes, and procedures for secondary assets to support sustained business performance.
  • Prepare and review technical scopes of works for projects and other network activities.
  • Develop and maintain lifecycle management plans and long-term investment plans for secondary assets.
  • Apply a risk framework aligned with the corporate model for systematic assessment of risk associated with asset operation.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure business outcomes.
  • Prepare asset and business reports as required.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A Registered engineering credential with the Victorian Business Licensing Authority (when eligible).
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management and/or protection & control applications.
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Previous experience in electricity utilities (desirable).
  • Good understanding of protection & control schemes for assets.
  • Knowledge of utility-grade standards, protocols, and systems.
  • Experience with industrial IP networking and data analysis (highly desirable).
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000-$150,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
