About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Director of School Counselling Services to join our team at CatholicCare Tasmania. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in delivering therapeutic counselling services to students across North Tasmania.

Job Description

This is a 0.8 fixed-term position for up to 12 months, providing maternity leave cover. You will work closely with our school partners to deliver child-focused counselling and support services. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and maintaining good professional relationships with staff, schools, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of clinical supervision, peer group clinical supervision, ad hoc consultation, and debriefing to our team members.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all team members, CatholicCare teams, and schools.
  • Providing evidence-based therapeutic counselling to students using developmentally appropriate models of intervention.
  • Liaising with parents, teachers, vice principals, and principals to ensure collaborative support for students.
  • Conducting thorough intake processes to gain information, listen to concerns, and encourage active involvement from parents and carers.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in providing clinical supervision, consultation, and debriefing to professionals.
  • Ability to provide leadership to human services teams, showcasing flexibility, creativity, and integration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality assurance and evaluation processes, including legal and statutory obligations.
  • Therapeutic counselling experience for children and young people, with a strong understanding of family violence impact on women, children, men, and family functioning.
  • Autonomy, initiative, discretion, and professional judgment in exercising considerable responsibility within the role.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or related disciplines, with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
