The company operates as a key hub for regional distribution, interstate freight services, and logistics in major cities.
As the Safety Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Manager - Operations Safety, Risk and Compliance. The primary focus of this role is to drive cultural change in safety and risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and supporting a team of three to provide direction and focus across all safety and compliance activities.
- Monitoring and communicating performance to improve decision-making regarding WHS and integrating WHSE into business decisions.
- Managing and being an integral part of all investigations including safety training, corrective action, auditing, and reporting.
- Ensuring compliance with all WHS regulations.
- Building and nurturing positive stakeholder relationships to ensure the safety team is seen as 'Trusted Advisors' who work in partnership with the business.
- Driving and contributing to adherence and review of Policy, Procedures, and Standards within the business.
- Reducing injuries and incidents in the business.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in a management or senior Safety or Risk role.
- Previous experience as a safety manager.
- Experience with WHS management systems, risk assessment, and accident/incident investigation.
- Experience with (BBS) Behavioural Based Safety.
- Proven supervisory, management, and leadership skills.
- Able to work autonomously with an ability to prioritize work and manage your time.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communicator who can navigate different personalities.
- Ability to understand technical safety advances in transport or mining and readily use and integrate this information into investigations and writing reports.
- A calm methodical and disciplined approach with the ability to probe without being seen as authoritative.
