Medical Support Assistant Role

The Surgical/Medical Ward provides excellent patient care under the specialties of Gynaecology, Ear Nose and Throat, Plastic and Vascular. Additionally, we specialise in Paediatric Surgical admissions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome visitors entering the unit and assist with patient admissions, discharging and data collection.
  • Cordially handle telephone calls and messages, ensuring a prompt and professional response.
  • Maintain patient records to guarantee accuracy and currency of details.
  • Provide support to patients, visitors and the general public with enquiries and directions.
  • Process pre-admission forms, verifying health insurance details and notify patients of any additional charges.
  • Admit new patients for the day.
  • Coordinate ingoing and outgoing mail and faxes.
  • Perform photocopying and other tasks as required.
  • Collaborate with Doctors and Nurses, providing administrative assistance when needed.
Requirements:
  • Superior communication skills enabling effective relationships with hospital staff, patients, families and medical professionals.
  • A strong understanding of medical terminology and attention to detail, coupled with problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask a busy workload with experience in the healthcare industry being highly valued.
