The Opportunity

In this critical role, you will provide technical leadership for Substation services and infrastructure, ensuring compliance to ElectraNet's Regulatory performance and network operation obligations. You will manage the preparation and approval of relevant Asset Management technical deliverables, including Asset Management Policy, Plans, and Asset Class Strategies.

This role requires strategic innovation, development, and implementation of engineering standards and processes to meet regulatory and corporate requirements. You will also lead the development and improvement of design philosophy and design standards, and the specific functional requirements.

You will plan, direct, manage, coordinate, and supervise the work of other employees, including professional employees. Your extensive experience in the energy industry, particularly in transmission, distribution, or generation, will be invaluable in this position.

About You

We are looking for an exceptional individual with a proven track record in Engineering in Transmission or Distribution networks. Your experience should include over 10 years' experience in the design, installation/commissioning, operation, and/or maintenance of substation primary assets.

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • A strong Subject Matter Expertise within the industry, demonstrated through active participation and/or leading discussions in workshops, conferences, technical forums, and other forms of professional development
  • Significant experience successfully delivering engineering outcomes, including policy and standards development, project scoping, specification development, managing design reviews, onsite inspection, and safety in design processes
  • Advanced knowledge of Asset Management techniques and practices
  • Established relationships dealing with Industry Technical Forums (such as Cigre study committees and Australian Standards Committees), Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), external Customers & Suppliers, etc.
