About the Role:
Karlka Recruiting Group is partnering with a State Government Agency to fill two exciting legal positions. As a Principal Legal Officer, you will be part of a small team and have the opportunity to contribute to the public service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist legal advice on transaction documents, including consultant agreements and construction contracts.
- Support General Counsel, senior executives, and staff in their legal matters.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and drive timely outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers.
- Assist with briefing the Board, executive, and Audit & Risk Committee.
- Develop relationships with government leaders and stakeholders.
- Update contracting platform documents regularly.
- Conduct workshops, training, and briefing sessions.
- Manage external lawyers and counsel.
- Refresh construction contract templates.
- Identify weaknesses and advise on risk profile.
Requirements:
- Expertise in construction law is a requirement.
- Ideal candidates will possess experience in governance, administrative law, or policy making and legislative process.
- Understanding of government policy development and decision-making processes is ideal.
- Admitted or eligible for admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Supreme Court of NSW.
- Eligible to hold a NSW Practising Certificate.
