This exciting role offers an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic government department in Canberra, where you will contribute directly to national security initiatives through advanced data analysis and reporting.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage open-source information and sensitive data feeds to identify patterns, trends, and potential future threats relevant to national security.
  • Aid in developing and managing robust reporting processes that ensure outputs are accurate, complete, timely, and actionable for decision-makers.
  • Support senior staff and colleagues by preparing, enhancing, visualising, and presenting key findings, assessments, and priorities using various data tools.
  • Participate in change initiatives focused on data governance and process improvement to strengthen security operations and data management practices.
  • Draft clear materials that enable enhanced data analytics capabilities within the division and across the wider department.
  • Assist in translating complex datasets into accessible insights tailored for senior leadership audiences.
  • Contribute actively to team objectives by collaborating on projects that require both independent initiative and group input.

Requirements:

  • Recent graduates with a strong academic background in Information Technology, Security Studies, Business or Commerce-related fields.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to participate constructively in discussions aimed at identifying solutions to data or procedural issues.
  • Australian citizenship with an existing Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) security clearance is also required.
