About the Role
We seek an experienced Aboriginal Family Support Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide guidance and coaching on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practice to colleagues using a case management framework.
- This role offers full-time or part-time opportunities (0.6FTE minimum).
- The position is government-funded until 30 June 2027, with possible extension.
- The successful applicant will be remunerated according to the SCHCADS Award, Level 5 Salary range ($97,378 - $101,788), Pro-Rata for Part Time + Super.
To perform this role, it is essential that the person holding the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. This requirement aligns with section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver complex family case-management programs to families and kids through an outreach model.
- Foster social learning, community connectedness, good health, and wellbeing among families.
- Collaborate with other professionals and agencies using an ecological model.
About You
- A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services) is required.
- You should have at least 5 years of experience providing complex and intensive case-management and/or therapeutic services to families, caregivers, young people, and children within a child protection framework.
- Cultural awareness and effective communication skills when working with diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds are crucial.
Requirements
- You must be eligible for a Working with Children Check or hold a professional exemption.
- A current driver's licence is necessary for this role.
- You must be legally able to work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
- A respected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural referee will vouch for your appropriateness for this role.
