Senior Contracts Contract Manager

Job Title:

Senior Contracts Administrator role involves effective administration and management of contracts to minimize risk and maximize financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage contract deliverables, provision and return of security, insurance etc.
• Day-to-day administration of head contracts with high compliance level to protect company rights and entitlements.
• Provide timely and accurate advice to project managers regarding head contract rights, obligations and strategies.
• Draft contractual correspondence, notices and claims in compliance with timeframes and requirements.
• Assist in preparation, submission, monitoring and collection of payment claims.
• Prepare and pursue contractual claims with the client, providing updated forecasts on claim prospects.
• Establish and maintain tracking registers for variations, extensions of time, correspondence etc.
• Support and assist with administration of contract insurances and claims arising.
• Maintain awareness of programme, actual progress and contract completion obligations.
• Support preparation and input into internal and external reporting requirements.
• Provide input and assistance to dispute resolution proceedings.
• Identify and manage contract risks to meet organisational obligations and achieve planned outcomes.
• Procurement and Subcontract Management:
  • Review procurement programme/register, including work packaging and subcontract identification.
  • Prepare subcontract RFT packages ensuring they are commercially sound and commensurate with head contract requirements.
  • Support commercial evaluation of subcontract tenders.
  • Participate in negotiation of subcontracts.
  • Compile, issue and execute conformed subcontract documentation.
  • Attend subcontract kick-off and progress meetings with package owners/managers.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to package owners/managers regarding contractual rights, obligations and strategies.
  • Assist package owners/managers with drafting of contractual correspondence.
  • Assess subcontractor claims from a contractual perspective and provide advice on claims management.
  • Establish subcontract tracking registers to be used and maintained by package owners/managers.
  • Manage disputed subcontractor claims and coordinate strategy and required actions.

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (preference Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Law).
• 5-10 years experience in similar position on multi-disciplined construction project working in or alongside contracts, procurement and construction teams.
• Practical working knowledge of construction contract law and relevant legislation.
• Ability to negotiate and make sound commercial and contractual decisions.
• Strong understanding of typical project functions of cost control and forecasting, programming and financial reporting.
• Ability to write effective contractual communication and communicate verbally.
• Ability to self-manage time and prioritise activities from competing demands.
• Self-motivated and success driven.
• Ability to work safely and effectively unsupervised.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Technically proficient in MS Office suite of applications.
