About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and delivering the strategic development of internal communication approaches and managing key corporate channels, leading a small team to support organisational goals and objectives.

This role requires collaboration with colleagues in communication, digital technology, and change management, with regular interaction across the organisation, including with members of the Executive Leadership Team, staff, and business areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, developing, and delivering a strategic internal communication approach;
  • Providing specialist advice and assistance to various business areas on their internal communication requirements;
  • Evaluating risks and making recommendations and decisions using sound judgement, expertise, and knowledge;
  • Managing multiple activities with limited supervision, delivering results while meeting competing deadlines;
  • Developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships, identifying collaborative opportunities with relevant stakeholders;
  • Leading a small team and supporting members to deliver, mentoring and building capacity in a team environment;
  • Overseeing the management of the organisation's key corporate channels.

This is a maternity leave cover opportunity, however the agency is growing, and there may be opportunities to stay longer. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in developing and delivering internal communication strategies, plans, and activities, ideally for a decentralised organisation.

The successful candidate will possess excellent research, writing, and tailoring skills for quality information materials, as well as communication management skills, including multi-tasking, setting priorities, and delivering results on time.

Australian citizenship and political neutrality are essential requirements for this role. The ability to manage staff to ensure delivery of team performance, build team capacity, and encourage career development is also highly desirable.
