About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to join our team at the University of New South Wales. As a key member of our Health, Safety and Environment team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our staff, students and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health, safety and environment management systems and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks and hazards in the workplace.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff and students on health, safety and environment procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement health, safety and environment policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on health, safety and environment performance metrics and trends.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as science, engineering or environmental health.
  • Extensive experience in health, safety and environment management, preferably in a university or research setting.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including WHS Act and Australian Standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and identify trends and patterns.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
