A Water and Sewage Treatment Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of water and sewage treatment plants, pump stations, reticulation systems, and reuse facilities.

  • ">
  • Ensure the smooth operation of treatment plants, pump stations, and reticulation systems through ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and repairs.">
  • Conduct regular water sampling, testing, and recording to meet required standards for treated and recycled effluent.">
  • Maintain grounds and work areas to required standard, adhering to health and safety protocols.">
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to sewer and water supply emergency calls.">

Key Responsibilities:

  1. ">

  2. Undertake routine maintenance and repair of water and sewage treatment and pumping stations, monitor reservoir levels, disinfection, and pumping records.

    ">">

  3. Perform tasks related to water filtration, reticulation, and sewerage treatment plant construction, water testing, maintenance, and repair.

    ">">

  4. Inspect water manholes and mains as well as sewerage manholes and mains, reporting on condition and undertaking repairs as necessary.

    ">">

  5. Operate water and sewage treatment works to ensure sustained delivery of service and maintenance of grounds and areas associated with pump stations.

    ">">

  6. Install new and replacement water supply and sewage mains, attending to sewer chokes and burst mains, and performing clean-up and follow-up tasks.

    ">">

  7. Assist and advise ratepayers with water and sewer problems, liaising with public and other staff as required.

    ">">

  8. Utilize electronic monitoring equipment at pump stations, treatment plants, and reservoirs, keeping daily records of pump run times, sewer chokes, and other activities associated with water and sewer infrastructure.

    ">">

  9. Provide assistance to the Water and Sewer Team as required, accountable for the care, maintenance, servicing, and security of tools and equipment.

    ">">

  10. Assist with maintaining the register of water supply and sewerage assets, and assist in the management of costs and metering for allocated water and sewerage projects.

    ">">

  11. Prepare work sites for safe operations, locate all utility services prior to excavation using Dial Before You Dig service, and implement Traffic Control Plans.

    ">">

  12. Operate mobile plant and trucks as required, and assist in the completion of water meter readings.
