Fitzroy is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects.

About the job

We're seeking an experienced Workplace Trainer to join our team on-site at Ironbark No.1, reporting directly to the Health, Safety, Training & Risk (HSTR) Manager.

In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality training and conducting assessments for our site workforce, ensuring alignment with both internal policies and external compliance standards.

You'll take a hands-on approach, providing infield coaching and support to maintain strong training standards across the site.

As a key member of the HSTR team, you'll work closely with senior leaders across various functions, contributing to our overall training and assessment strategy and driving operational excellence.

  • Underground coal mining experience (essential)
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment 7AE40122 (essential)

Practical underground skills with relevant machinery tickets (e.g. Driftrunner, LHD, Bolter)

Solid understanding of training systems, industry standards, and instructional techniques

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage training schedules, resources, and logistics

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various departments to identify and meet training needs

Flexible in adapting training delivery methods to meet business requirements

Experienced in delivering hands-on training and assessments

Proven ability to monitor and maintain training quality standards across crew trainers and assessors
