Role Overview

Data Governance Managers play a vital role in driving business growth by ensuring data quality, accuracy and compliance. As a Data Governance Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of Merchandise data management and governance capabilities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a Product Data Management & Governance framework to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and prioritise Product Data Management & Governance initiatives based on business unit needs and project plans.
  • Lead and facilitate the Business Unit Data Readiness Working Group to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Provide support to business units and project teams to comply with Data Management & Governance requirements.
  • Establish strong relationships with stakeholders to engage, communicate and deliver projects effectively.
  • Represent data at relevant meetings and communicate or escalate items as needed to the relevant teams.
  • Develop plans and processes to monitor and track Data Management & Governance initiatives.
  • Manage and develop a team of direct reports to achieve business objectives.

About You and Your Skills:

  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, data management or analytics field is highly regarded.
  • Proven experience in leading data management and governance initiatives and teams.
  • Experience with Retail product data is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance principles and framework, including operational leverage.
  • Proven experience in working with and influencing senior stakeholders in complex matrix environments.
  • Ability to articulate Data Management concepts and impacts tailored to stakeholder literacy.
  • Demonstrated experience of complex problem solving and managing change within an organisation.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with ability to prioritise.
  • Highly capable in PowerPoint, Excel and able to communicate data driven decisions and strategy.
  • Practical implementation skills in best practice of data governance frameworks e.g. Data Management Association Data Management Body of Knowledge (DAMA-DMBOK).
  • Knowledge Agile delivery practices.
