Job Title: Community Support Specialist

This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the provision of best practice healthcare services for women, babies, children, and young people across South Australia.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality knowledge about gendered violence, complex trauma, risk assessments, and service responses. They will contribute to the achievement of program and organisational objectives for SA Health.

Key responsibilities include contributing to service responsiveness that aims to improve health outcomes for individuals experiencing domestic and family violence. The specialist will work in partnership with health professionals, other departments, and community agencies to deliver exceptional care.

Additionally, the candidate will contribute to sector development through preparation and implementation of training to health staff in relation to working with individuals experiencing domestic and family violence.

They will also contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement within organisational frameworks and processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

They must have strongly developed interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills, including the ability to foster productive working relationships across disciplines and contribute positively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The candidate should demonstrate sound understanding of the complexities in working with individuals experiencing domestic and family violence.

They must also have demonstrated experience in the assessment of risk, use of professional judgement, and capacity to adhere to protocols.

The specialist should provide evidence-based therapeutic healthcare responses to support individuals with experiences of domestic and family violence.
