Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Management Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial support and analysis to key stakeholders within the organisation.

The Management Accountant will work closely with finance teams, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data, insightful management reporting, and compliance with corporate finance processes.

  • Prepare monthly reports in an accurate and timely manner for projects and/or functional areas of the organisation including variance and trend analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Oversee and facilitate the collection and processing of all inputs to the monthly reporting process, including accruals, transfer journals, scope changes, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Regularly and independently review areas of major expenditure and variances to budget providing reconciliations and improvement suggestions to the relevant finance manager, function manager, or project manager.
  • Provide accounting and transactional support to finance managers and/or functional managers.
  • Support commitment data and requests to enable effective management of the project/functional area and associated tracking of expenditure/forecasts.
  • Ensure the correct selection of code establishment is consistent with the reporting hierarchy and the organisation's expenditure classification policy overlaid with the Work Breakdown System and Cost Breakdown Structure.
  • Assist finance managers in managing asset capitalisations through the completion of the appropriate forms, creation of asset register details, and liaison with the Corporate Accounting Team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or business-related discipline, membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or the Australian Society of CPAs or proven relevant experience.
  • Experience in the management accounting, budget, forecast, and cost functions of a commercial organisation.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Strong analytical and business partnering skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of spreadsheets and large automated accounting systems.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience with Prism and CiA Financials or other complex financial information systems.
  • Management performance reporting experience.
