Chef Manager Position

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Chef Manager at our Rose Court facility. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager, this full-time role leads a small team managing the site café and service functions.

A key success factor is building and maintaining high-trust relationships with colleagues and support teams, underpinning operational excellence and aligning with our core values.

As the Chef Manager, you will connect with residents, actively seeking feedback to improve food and nutritional operations. Your team provides high-quality food and beverage service across dining hall, in-house café, in-room dining, refreshments, and events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily delivery of quality meals on time, following set menus aligned with residents' food preferences and nutritional plans.
  • Lead kitchen teams in workplace safety routines and safety checklists.
  • Participate in our Chef Community, sharing food creations and catering for events.
  • Manage budgets, procurement, stocktakes, and equipment maintenance processes.
  • Attend daily management meetings to implement strategic outcomes in a collaborative leadership style.
  • Be receptive to customer feedback, respectful, and an active listener, as residents value their food experience.
  • Ensure all operations meet external food hygiene audits and regulatory standards, advocating for safety and proactive attitudes.
  • Collaborate with Regional Chef support network to improve and develop new food services.
  • Partner with community education providers to facilitate student placements in the kitchen.

This role involves physical tasks such as bending, squatting, lifting, and pushing items. It is essential that you can perform these tasks safely without risk of injury.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial kitchens.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing kitchen teams.
  • A natural people person who fosters a safe and fun culture.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous development.
  • A positive leader who collaborates with operational teams.
  • Willing to attend safety training and upskilling sessions.
  • Qualifications: Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery and a valid Food Safety Supervisors certificate.
  • Ability to adapt menus creatively for residents.
