Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Fashion Designer to join our team based in Byron Bay.
This key role requires knowledge in all aspects of range building, garment design, construction and an understanding of fabric development.
You will be responsible for managing and processing the design & development of prints, garments and fabrics from design to delivery.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Research and analyse market and sales trends.
- Creation of all collections, sketches, product prototypes and samples by translating creative designs, ideas, and themes into products.
- Sourcing or developing fabrics that are sustainable / low impact & work in line with our ethical & sustainable credentials.
- Research colour palettes & prints for each collection.
- Ensuring all garments are produced according to quality standards and meet delivery schedules.
- Schedule and direct garment fittings and work closely with technical team to ensure consistent high quality in fit and construction of samples and production.
- Ensure range development meets all deadlines.
- Effective communication with suppliers through clear and precise technical drawings.
- Manage and maintain design and production schedules.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Sales and Marketing teams.
- Provide Management Team with clear updates & information on the Design schedule.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Fashion Design or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in garment Design.
- Practical experience in a garment design role or similar.
- Demonstrate extensive experience and knowledge in ladies garment design across woven & knit fabrics.
- Experience in Swim and intimates design is also highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and development.
- Advanced administration skills with the ability to manage own workload.
- Experience in working to deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Comprehensive Adobe Creative Suite skills (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator etc.).
- A passion for our brand and understanding of what it represents to our customers.
