Procurement Expert Wanted

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Expert to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in building a more sustainable future for Queensland Rail by driving procurement strategies and making commercially sound decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with business objectives, including the management of high-value goods and services, major construction works, and rollingstock overhaul programs.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Driving commercial value across the business through the identification and resolution of procurement-related problems.
  • Navigating complex stakeholder interactions, ensuring expectations are managed and procurement best practices are upheld.
  • Analyzing procurement spend, supplier performance, and market trends to improve commercial outcomes.
  • Continuously improving procurement processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Managing multiple procurement projects concurrently, ensuring smooth execution and timely decision-making.
Requirements
  • Strong leadership skills and a desire to drive procurement strategy and influence best commercial outcomes.
  • Proven experience in high-volume procurement within a center-led procurement function, with expertise in tender processes, contract negotiations, and supplier management.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and high emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to build trust and manage expectations across different perspectives.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills to interpret business issues and develop commercially sound procurement solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize effectively.
  • Confidence in handling challenging conversations with stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring procurement remains a strategic enabler for the business.
