Post Adoption Counsellor Position

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate counsellor to join our team in Sydney.

As a counsellor, you will work with individuals and families affected by adoption, providing therapeutic services such as counselling, group work, and intermediary services.

You will use a trauma-informed approach to support clients navigate their post-adoption journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing therapeutic services to individuals and families affected by adoption.
  • Delivering evidence-based programs and services.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of programmes and services.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, counselling, or psychology.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a counselling role or similar.
  • An understanding of key issues surrounding adoption, including trauma and its impact, loss and grief, and identity.
  • Demonstrated practice skills working therapeutically with adults, adolescents, and families.
  • Highly developed group work skills and ability to manage difficult group dynamics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
