At our organisation, we aim to create a society where everyone can thrive. As part of this vision, we are dedicated to reconciliation and support for those affected by adoption.
This position is crucial in improving the wellbeing of individuals impacted by adoption through providing therapeutic services such as counselling, group work, events, search, and intermediary support.
The role involves creating information resources, contributing to a quarterly newsletter, and managing social media content. We use a trauma-informed approach to support our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver face-to-face, video, and telephone counselling services to individuals dealing with grief, trauma, identity, relationship, parenting, drug and alcohol, domestic violence, and mental health issues related to adoption.
- Engage clients using strengths-based assessments and risk minimisation processes.
- Work with clients to develop and monitor their client plans, focusing on identifying strengths and areas of risk, ensuring active client engagement.
- Facilitate connection meetings and provide debriefing support to clients.
Requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- Membership with ACA or PACFA is highly desirable.
- An understanding of key issues surrounding adoption, including trauma and its impact, grief and loss, identity, and reunion issues.
- Experience delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based therapeutic services individually and in groups.
- Demonstrated practice skills working therapeutically with adults and adolescents, preferably in a post-adoption service.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with knowledge of search, outreach, and intermediary practices.
- A current driver's license.
About You:
We seek an experienced and compassionate professional who shares our commitment to supporting individuals affected by adoption. If you have a passion for making a difference, we encourage you to apply.
